Magic Acupuncture (magicacupuncture.com) is an information website about acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine, with a directory of clinics in Calgary and Alberta. This page explains what information we collect when you visit, why, and what choices you have.
Who we are
Our website address is: https://magicacupuncture.com. You can reach us at [email protected].
What we collect and why
Comments. If you leave a comment, we collect the name, email address and comment text you enter, plus your IP address and browser user-agent string, which help us detect spam. An anonymized string (hash) created from your email address may be provided to the Gravatar service to check whether you use it; Gravatar’s privacy policy is at https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture (if any) is visible next to it.
Contact messages. If you email us or use a contact form, we receive your email address and the contents of your message. We use them only to reply and to run the site — we do not sell contact details or add you to a marketing list without your consent.
Cookies. If you leave a comment, you may opt in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies so you do not have to re-enter them; these cookies last one year. If you visit the login page, a temporary cookie checks whether your browser accepts cookies; it contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser. Login cookies (for site administrators and editors only) last two days, or two weeks if “Remember Me” is selected.
Analytics and advertising. We may use privacy-respecting analytics and advertising services (such as Google Analytics and Google AdSense) that set their own cookies to measure visits and, where ads are shown, to serve and measure them. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time; the site will still work.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content, such as YouTube videos. Embedded content behaves exactly as if you had visited the other website directly: those websites may collect data about you, use cookies, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content, including if you are logged in to that service.
Who we share your data with
We do not sell your personal information. Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam-detection service. If you request a password reset, your IP address is included in the reset email.
How long we retain your data
Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely so we can recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically. Contact messages are kept only as long as needed to handle your enquiry. Registered user accounts exist only for site administrators and editors; their profile information is stored while the account is active.
Your rights over your data
If you have left comments on this site, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, and you can request that we erase it. This does not include data we must keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. To make a request, email [email protected].
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date above.
